Charity Visit

Last Saturday was special to me as I went for a charity visit somewhere at Klang. There were 25 of us, including my intern’s company management directories and my colleagues. I was glad that I made the right decision to go for the charity visit instead of sitting at the office. It was my working Saturday on the same date. Thanks my supervisor for being so kind for giving me exceptional. XD 

The association is a multiracial charity home which pioneered a number of approaches for special children. There are about 70 children in the charity home. They have various disabilities such as Down syndrome, autism, physical disabilities, blindness, muteness, deafness and mild mental retardation. Looked at their genuine smiles, I was indeed very happy I met with little small angels. The children there love visitors, who spend time talking and playing with them. There is a live in teacher who educates and trains the children to enable them to lead independent lives. 

Cash of several thousand Ringgit Malaysia was donated to the association, together with some sundries and commodities. Besides that, two wheelchairs were sponsored to the association – giving the disabled children the freedom that others take for granted. The money was collected from the selling of DVDs of the company’s Chinese New Year music video. Yup, my colleagues are great singer. In fact, they are versatile engineer, accountant and programmer. Haha..

From the interactive session with the special kids, I have learned how to put people at ease more and actually listen to what is being said. We shall be grateful for what we have. Always look at the brighter side of things. Happiness is there when there is hope in life. It is important for us to play an active role in the community. Disabled youngster want the same things as all young people – peer friendships, going out, and looking forward to living as independent adults one day.

While we can never understand their world, we can reach out to make their world a better place~
